18lac students appeared for NEET UG 22 in desire to pursue an MBBS course in India. Number of seats have increased from last year and now nearing a Lac in India, Out of these 18 Lac, 9 lac would qualify to be in the race to pursue MBBS in India or even abroad as Since 2019 NEET UG qualification is must even if you aspire for an MBBS course abroad. The number of aspirants and number of seats available is 1:9 i.e. 1 seat for every 9 aspirants who are neet exam qualified. 1lac students take a seat in India, The remaining 8 lac aspirants compromise on course or destination to pursue their dream career. The best destination until 18th Nov 2021 before NMC Forgein Medical Regulatory Gazette came into existence the most popular destination to pursue MBBS course was Philippines. Though there were a lot of candidates who preferred Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Nepal, Bangladesh etc. over Philippines, This may be due to lack of information, due to peer pressure or even they had their know pursuing the mbbs course from their chosen destination. Why we as Certified Career Counselors suggested or recommended students to pursue MBBS in the Philippines. The most important factors we considered while we recruited students in Philippines were:

Language was never a barrier in the Philippines as 90% of locals can communicate in English as English is their second language as it was an American colony. Climatic conditions in the Philippines are Tropical, So adjusting to weather conditions for an Indian student was never an issue. A lot of candidates said it was as good as Maharashtra in India. As every Forgein Medical Graduate has to Pass/Clear a Screening Test exam, Post completion of MBBS studies from abroad to apply for a license to practice as a physician or Register as an MBBS graduate with state medical council to pursue higher education in India. The success rate in Screening Exam was very tremendous if one compared to other countries forgein Medical graduates taking the same test year by year ( The exam is well known for its toughness to maintain the quality of Drs) Not only were the students tasting success in FMGE, India but were also clearing USMLE in 1-2 attempts as the study pattern in the Philippines is in alignment with the USA study pattern. The Philippines is the second happiest country in Southeast Asia, according to the World Happiness Report. The locals are very warm and friendly. The affordable cost to pursue MBBS in the Philippines makes it a very lucrative offer. We can find Temples, Gurudwaras, Mosques & Churches various buddhism missionaries across the country which makes it a god loving country. We also considered it as a non-controversial country neither in favor nor against super powers in the world.

The new norms set by NMC on 18/11/21 brought a sudden pause to Abroad MBBS pursuance as the eligibility to practice in India post completion of an MBBS course abroad were changed overnight. The state of uncertainty among Counselors, Parents & Aspirants was clearly dampening the spirits. But much to the relief of all on 31/8/2022 The Govt of Philippines in deep consultation with CHED (Center for Higher Education Department, Philippines) has made changes to their deliverance of MD course in the Philippines which is completely aligned with NMC gazette dated 18/11/21, The decision taken was not only for International students aiming to pursue M.D course in Philippines but also for the local filipino students willing to pursue MD degree in their own respective country which fulfills all the criteria of NMC gazette 2021 be it be related to Internship, Duration of the course, Medium of Instruction or even par with local filipino medical graduate. This again has motivated us to guide students to pursue their Medicine Graduation in the Philippines, The country which has shown the desire and concern towards Indian students' needs.
